I fixed it myself by removing the pcb and reflowing the suspect joints. I had the same prob on my old boiler (previous house) it was caused by dry joints on the back of the pcb (especially the relay). Its quite right for him to diagnose the likely problem from your description and his experience of this model. When this happens, your boiler will stop working and you will have no central heating or hot water. If your boiler pressure drops too low, the boiler’s default failsafe mechanism will kick in and the boiler will lockout. Low boiler pressure is a common problem with all boilers and Potterton boilers are as susceptible to this as any others. In the end, What happens if the pressure in a Potterton boiler is too low? You could reset the boiler then it would work for a while then back to lockout. This used to make the boiler go into lockout. The problem was because the boiler was so small the PCB which is located on the right-hand side if you are facing the boiler used to start to overheat when you looked at the PCB you could see burn marks. The Potterton suprima had its faults though and one of them was the PCB or otherwise known as the printed circuit board. The 120s were recalled a few times due to problems and eventually withdrawn, but all in all, they were a good boiler.
